Employment Litigation

Our law firm represents clients in employment litigation, including wrongful termination, employment discrimination, retaliation, and workplace harassment cases.  Employment litigation can be a great risk to small businesses.  If your case involves non-compete clauses, trade secrets, intellectual property, or other business risks, see our separate page on commercial litigation.

Employment Discrimination

Washington State has more than a dozen protected classes.  Unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation are, and should be, prohibited in the workplace.  The Washington Law Against Discrimination is one of the toughest anti-discrimination laws in the nation.  Our state’s Human Rights Commission (HRC) was created to echo the function of the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Employment litigation is complex.  The employment trial lawyer must understand rapidly evolving areas of law as well as the human element in each case.  Uncovering the motive for employment actions requires diligence and persistence.

Wage and Hour Claims

The Department of Labor and Industries rigorously enforces Washington State’s wage and hour laws.  Our minimum wage is one of the highest in the nation, and it automatically adjusts based upon the federal Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W).

Businesses must pay their workers according to very specific state and federal laws and regulations.  When businesses are alleged to have violated wage and hour laws, there is a risk of a class action lawsuit to address the problem.  Our law firm is experienced in class action lawsuits, and we stand ready to help you.
