Eric S. Newman is Of Counsel at the Rocke Law Group. After spending his early career focusing largely in the area of insurance defense, Eric decided to expand his practice and use his extensive litigation experience to represent the interests of both plaintiffs and defendants.

Eric has tried dozens of cases on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants in Washington and Oregon to both judges and juries. He has represented clients in municipal courts, county district courts, superior courts, the United States District Court, as well as before the Washington State Court of Appeals. Eric has traveled extensively throughout the United States and internationally on behalf of his clients.

In January 2013, Eric was sworn in as a King County District Court Judge Pro Tempore. In that role he presides over various calendars related to civil and criminal matters at District Court locations around King County.

Education and Background

Eric was born into a military family on Long Island, New York. He spent his childhood traveling around the United States and spent almost eight years living in Europe. He joined the United States Air Force when he was 17 years old and served on active duty for more than five years with an additional eight years in the Washington Air National Guard.

Eric graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Political Science. He later attended Seattle University School of Law where he graduated cum laude. Two years after his graduation, Seattle University invited Eric to return to the law school as an adjunct professor, first coaching the school’s mock trial team and eventually teaching a Trial Techniques course. The first year Eric coached in the mock trial program, the team advanced to the American Trial Lawyers Association National Mock Trial Competition for the first time in the history of the law school.
